Britney Jean Spears was born in McComb, Mississippi, and was raised in Kentwood. As a child, Britney attended dance classes, and she was great in gymnastics, winning numerous competitions and the like. Britney was a great dancer and singer. Britney was 8 years old when she tried to join The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) However her age was a factor to her being denied. Britney was then recommended to Broadway's off-Broadway musical "Ruthless" in which she performed the role of the title character for two years. She was back for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) and this time , as the mouseketeer. In the late 90s, Britney was signed to Jive Recording Artist. After the release of her debut album"Baby One More Time" "...Baby One More Time" in the beginning of 1999, Britney became a huge success, selling 13 million copies of "Baby" and 9 million copies (as as of July 2001) of her second album "Oops !...I Did It Again" that was released in May 2000. Britney was born to Lynne Spears (and Jamie Spears) and has a bigger sister named Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney was bound to become famous from a young age. Britney loved singing and was inspired by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Britney was a candidate for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989-1994) on television when she was just 8. But she was too young to play the part. Instead, Britney, her mother and baby sister moved to New York where she starred in a number of TV adverts and an off-Broadway production, "Ruthless", where she was a student of Natalie Portman. She discovered her love of music and dance two years later, when she auditioned once more for "Mickey Mouse" which she won along with Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.
